Over the last year Green IT has become one of the most important issues in the computer industry.
Now Connection Research has conducted a major survey of Australian IT departments and how they are confronting the Green IT challenge.
Green IT is about more than reducing the power consumption of IT. That is important, part IT has an even bigger role to play in ensuring the organisation as a whole reduces its carbon footprint. IT has a key role to play in measuring and monitoring carbon output, and in increasing the energy efficiency of many parts of the organisation.
Green IT in Australia 2009 is the largest study yet undertaken of how Australian IT departments are introducing Green IT technologies and practices – at the server and data centre level, at the end user level, and across the organisation, and how they are using IT to meet their carbon compliance obligations. It also looks at the tools and methodologies they are using, which vendors are important to them, and the attitudes of CIOs and It managers to a range of Green IT issues.
