Fundamentals in IT Sustainability - 1 Day Training Course

DOWNLOAD BROCHURE

Aim of the Course - This course is designed to take candidates through the basics of Green IT (Information and Communications Technology) – sometimes called Green ICT. It takes a holistic view of Green IT. It looks at the ways in which the IT function can become greener – using less energy and leaving a smaller carbon footprint – but it also looks at the important bigger picture of how IT can help reduce carbon emissions overall.

After completing this course candidates should have a good working knowledge of all aspects of Green IT – the technologies, the techniques, and the policies. But remember that the information it contains represents a snapshot in time – this is a fast-moving area. Completion of the course is only the start to an understanding of Green IT, not the end.

Prerequisites and Suitable Candidates - This course is designed for any candidate with a working knowledge of the fundamentals of IT. It is suitable for specialists, such as CIOs or IT technical and support staff, but it is also suitable for well informed IT users. It is not overly technical, and involves no detailed calculations.

Certification - This course complies with CompTIA’s Strata Green IT Objectives - FCO GR1.  The CompTIA Strata Green IT exam is designed to show that the successful candidate has the knowledge and skills to implement environmentally sound techniques such as disposal, preservation of power, and reduction of an organization’s carbon footprint. Furthermore, a successful candidate will be able to identify organizations and standards, implement virtualization on IT systems, and calculate the ROI involved in implementing green IT. This test is intended for candidates who have decision making authority over their company’s IT infrastructure such as: IT Manager, IT Supervisor, Data Center Manager, and Operations Manager. CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Server + are recommended prerequisites.
